Avatars

No I'm not talking about the last airbender or the one with the blue people from James Cameron's hit movie.I mean these kinds of avatars, the ones we use in forums, websites, heck! Even in blogger we have our own avatars. We also call them icons, but the common term mostly used is avatar.

Starting from the avatar perspective, according to Hindu religion, avatars are the incarnations of god and the purpose for their incarnations is to restore religion when it goes astray. From the icon perspective, icons are usually determined by the people we admire the most thus considering them to be their "icon's."

Coincidentally we call these small squares of pixels avatars/icons. As in a commercial seen in class, these avatars represent us on the internet and it shows what we are on the internet it may not be exactly be identical to us in reality however they are us it just that they are presented differently. And as we admire our iconic people in life, people try to show that admiration for them through the internet also using "icons."

I think that's pretty neat.
