Uh yea, it's kinda lame, I can do way better than this, but the actual final design you'll see on the due date.
But what I am trying to portray in this image is how a person can be a puzzle since you yourself have to figure out who you are. And the person is struggling to put the puzzle together is trying figure out who he is through completing the puzzle, since he see himself and his life as a puzzle.
Really cool but it seems a bit too literal? I don't know, there is something a bit off but I like how you made the person himself in to a puzzle. It shows that the person himself is complex.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea of people being puzzles and I think this is a good start. What you might be able to do is make some pieces look bigger then others or not so much like actual puzzle pieces(maybe to show the individuality of the person?). It might be possible to make it look like they don't fit together at all (but then again that could ruin the whole concept of the puzzle without a lot of planning). Or, just got another idea, keep the person putting the puzzle together (going to refer to them as the builder from now on lol) looking something like they are now and make the person in the puzzle look slightly different but still somewhat like the builder. Not sure if this helps but I hope it does. Good job so far though.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea, as you said you will be changing it. But I think you should show that the puzzle he is creating is a little different from himself to show the "self-creation" of existentialism. For example if you make him a fat puzzle guy, make the guy in the puzzle skinny.
ReplyDeleteYour idea is unique and I know your changing your puzzle dude. But Some parts of his body, like his fingers, are a bit off. I also think you be piecing someone similar in the puzzle, but not exactly him. You should also add a bit to the background because it seems it's just empty space. Other than that, it's a great start.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the puzzle, its unique and not something one would see every day so good job on originality =P. However, I'm not sure if the puzzle person making a mirror image of themselves really shows existentialism? But if there was something you could do to show the puzzle person creating an identity for itself in the puzzle then maybe it would work out a little better? But either way I like it very much =D.
ReplyDeleteI think the idea is unique, but something just doesnt seen right...cant put my finger on it..maybe because its not done. xD
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I think instead of having the character putting together a puzzle, why not have the character be the puzzle. Other from that, its all good...
I find your idea astounding, considering you have made the person looking at an image of himself in the mirror all a puzzle, looking to piece them together. The fact that you made the person also a puzzle in appearance is creative. You can make a more appealing artwork with your idea and call it "the Puzzle Man" or kid. But even this work in progress clealy shows us what it is that you are trying to show. I can't wait to see your final project.
ReplyDeleteInteresting concept. One thing I noticed was that one of the hands is extremely stretched out and bothers me a lot. Also, the legs are kind of awkward, but isn`t as much of a nuisance as the hand.
ReplyDeleteI think the puzzle is a bit too simple to be representative of a person as a whole. However, it does fit with the very simple style. Although it may become a bit messy, one thing to think about is to add a few more elements on the puzzle itself. That way, it might show the complexity of people better. But try not to make it too complex or it will simply become a mess. I like the idea mentioned above where the person in the puzzle looks different from the person making it. I noticed that the person is almost done the puzzle and that there really aren`t that many pieces. I think you should make the puzzle a bit more technically complicated (more pieces, for example) so that it makes it seem as if people aren`t so easy to figure out (since it`s true).
Other than that I think it`s a great idea and it`ll turn our great!
I like how simple and effective this piece is. To take it to the next level you might want to add some detail to make it look visually appealing. You might want to focus on the body and make it look a little less cartoony.
ReplyDeleteI also noticed that the puzzle looks very blurry, which might need to be fixed. You should try to show that the guys head is the missing piece of the puzzle because from looking at the art piece so far, the head piece does not look the same as the missing piece he is look at... It is a minor change, but will make a big difference to the message you want to send to the viewers.
I think this conceptually is one of the best one I've seen so far :)! Pat yourself on the back for that one. However,I think you could have presented the idea better. I'm not really sure I get what you're trying to say by looking at the picture. It doesn't really speak out. Although making the real person outside the puzzle piece is good, I think the puzzle it self should display other images. After all, the puzzle piece is what the person is hoping to become but by making the person in the puzzle piece equivalent to the one outside gives me the impression that he is trying to create himself to be the person he already is. Therefore, I really think it will be a lot stronger piece if you do the opposite enabling us to have something to compare to. Another thing to point out is the size of the hands. It almost seems that his/her right hand is three times larger than his/her left. Maybe actually have stacks of puzzle pieces waiting to be aligned in the puzzle. Small things like that! :)
ReplyDeleteI like how the background is a space of nothingness. Kind of reminds me of a place in deep thought where no human interactions can possibly occur, making it very personal, which is indeed personal.
I really think you're idea is pretty cool, but I would like to make a suggestion. Why don't you have the puzzle man's back facing the audience? (like we're on top of the puzzle man I suppose?) And have him actually putting the pieces of the puzzles together in his almost finished puzzle? I don't know, I think I'm making it even harder for you. Just throwing some idea out :)
ReplyDeleteAnother thing is that what are you specifically gonna put at the back? I think it'd be kind of hard to think of a matching background, but if you do have a fair idea of what to put on, good job! However, if you don't, that's something that you'll need to put more thinking.
KEEP IT UP!
I think that this idea is great. Simple yet complex and conveys your message very clearly.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the reflection, that is really hard to do.
Right now it does look a little flat, maybe it's because he's a puzzle piece lol, but areas like his arm, hand, and legs lack form and would look more defined it they were shaded. If you do decide to shade, define a light source and shade according to the contours of the forms.
Other than that, the idea is fantastic.
I like this idea, but since it's not done i cant really say much. Maybe you should try making his hands a part of the puzzle as well.
ReplyDeletethis kinda looks really cool.
ReplyDeletei love how the dude only has one eye. lol
I like the fact the hes not shaded in, and i like that this is drawn cartoony!
although like people said some body parts can be fixed, but i enjoy the fact that it is not a super complex image with tons of things going on at once.
It's coming together. The puzzle-within-a-puzzle concepts adds a great deal of depth to what is a essentially simple metaphor. As has been noted already, there's a bit of skewing in your character--most notably in the stretching hand, but the high-angle view seems to be giving your some trouble as well. The knees should be coming a little further out, and the tops of the shoulders should be a little more rounded.
ReplyDeletevery nice i really like you idea, when i saw your work didnt really get it.., but when you explained it.. i really like it a person sitting getting to know who he is? ... very imaginary...
ReplyDeletekeep it up =)
